Shannon’s “9 Lemons in a Bowl” Citrus Fire

Ingredients
  

  • 6 tabasco peppers
  • 3 lemons zest and juice
  • 2 oranges zest and juice
  • 1/4 cup coconut aminos (Shannon-approved)
  • 1 tablespoon raw honey
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Method
 

  1. Ferment tabasco peppers in salt brine for 1 week.*
  2. Blend fermented peppers with remaining ingredients.
  3. Age for another week in the refrigerator.
  4. Strain for a smoother sauce if desired.

  • Due to fermentation, this sauce has a longer shelf life.
  • Store in the refrigerator for up to 6 months.
  • Keep tightly sealed when not in use.
  • The flavor develops and improves over time.
  • If pressure builds in the bottle, briefly open to release (normal for fermented products).
  • Discard if any mold develops on the surface.
