Tamra’s “Hottest in the O.C.” Habanero Fire Recipe

  • 3 red savina peppers for their intense orange-red color
  • 2 death spiral peppers for extreme heat that sneaks up on you
  • 1 orange zest and juice
  • 2 tbsp agave nectar
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger grated
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 1 tbsp tequila optional

Method
 

  1. Roast the peppers until slightly charred and blistered.
  2. Remove seeds from half the peppers for controlled heat.
  3. Blend all ingredients until perfectly smooth.
  4. Simmer for 5 minutes to meld flavors.
  5. Allow to rest for 24 hours before using for maximum impact.

Notes

  • Store in glass bottles with tight-fitting lids in the refrigerator.
  • Best used within 3 weeks for peak flavor and heat.
  • The extreme heat of death spiral peppers means this sauce retains its kick even after storage.
  • Label clearly with “EXTREMELY HOT” warnings.
  • Keep away from children.
  • Wear gloves when handling the sauce directly.
